Selecting a Pneumatic Linear Slide

The “S” Series is a compact slide with a single, short bearing block that is supported with composite bearing sleeves and driven by a standard roundbody cylinder.

The pneumatic linear slide is a popular choice for automated industrial applications due to its reliability, ability to withstand extreme operating conditions and low maintenance design. The good news is that you can select from a wide range of linear slides to meet your application needs, but the bad news is that the sheer number of options offered today can make it difficult to pick the right model.

There are many details to consider when you’re looking for the best linear pneumatic slide, including:

  • Force: Energy that compels acceleration and movement.
  • Load Capacity: The maximum stress or demand that can be placed on a given system under normal conditions for an extended period of time.
  • Stroke Requirements: The distance that the load must travel in the application.
  • Operating Speed: The rate at which the slide travels between end positions.

The “L” Series Pneumatic Linear Slide is similar to the “S” Series shown above, but features dual bearing blocks which provides greater stability and increased loading capacity.

The “GB” Series is a repairable block style thruster which includes four high performance composite sleeve bearings and an integrated pneumatic cylinder into its compact bearing block supporting longer stroke applications.

The “EZ” Series offers a cost effective linear ball bearing supported slide as it is supported via dual bearing blocks, but is driven by an integrated composite barrel pneumatic cylinder.

The “SE” Series linear slide is supported via high performance linear ball bearings and powered by a tie-rod style actuator which allows it to support applications with moderate side loads.
